Graduate Trainee in the Library
(FT 12 month fixed term position: Salary £15,001)
Applications are invited for the post of Graduate Trainee in the Library of St John’s College, Oxford for the academic year 1st August 2012 to 31st July 2013. St John’s is one of larger colleges in Oxford, with around 600 members. The Library dates back to the 16th century, and has substantial historical collections, whilst also maintaining student-focussed undergraduate collections and services. The Graduate Trainee will be a key member of a small team, fully contributing to the running of the Library on a day to day basis, making the most of the training opportunities provided by the Bodleian Libraries’ trainee scheme, and being able to work independently on special projects.
The successful applicant will be expected to have a good degree, and to be able to show genuine enthusiasm and commitment to a professional career in librarianship and information work. Excellent IT, communication and organizational skills are essential, as are creativity, energy and self-motivation. An appreciation of historical collections and materials and their use is desirable.
