Academic Librarian,
Minnesota State University,United States, Mankato Memorial Library seeks a flexible, innovative, service-oriented individual to serve as an Academic Librarian.

Responsibilities:
This position serves as a member of the Reference Services Team and provides all facets of traditional and electronic reference service in a busy library commons setting. Reference responsibilities will include some evening and weekend hours.
In collaboration with other library faculty this position may work on projects relating to:
  • Evaluating and assessing the Library's collections to support the University.
  • Participating in the development of outreach and promotional materials.
All library faculty serve on a collection development team for one or more disciplines/programs, with responsibility for collection development and library instruction sessions; share in providing introductory library instruction sessions; and contribute to Library Services Department committees/activities.

Additional duties may be assigned on the basis of need and candidate abilities.

* Fixed-term positions are for one academic year; however,there is a possibility that the position may be extended on an annual basis for up to four years.
Memorial Library and the branch Music Library support the curricula with a collection of approximately one million volumes and 1500 current subscriptions, including access to over 200 electronic databases and 50,000 journals.The University is served by 17 library faculty, 23 support staff, 6 graduate assistants and student assistants.Bibliographic access is provided by ExLibris' Aleph. Minimum Qualifications:
  • MLS (or related Master's Degree) from ALA-accredited program (degree requirements completed by August 19, 2012).
  • Experience or coursework in Reference Services.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong service orientation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with providing reference and instruction services in an academic library.
  • Experience with ExLibris ALEPH software or another integrated library system.
  • Experience with collection development.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in dealing with people, technology, and multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
