Senior Assistant Librarian (User Services)

Reporting to the Librarian, the appointee will be responsible for performing a variety of professional and operational activities in support of the Library’s objectives and oversees planning and services in all areas affecting services to library users.  Key responsibilities include planning and delivering quality user services and promoting the use of Library resources.  He/She will work collaboratively with the Librarian and plays a significant role in all aspects of library-wide planning, budgeting, operations, communications, and policy development.  The appointee is required to supervise and train supporting staff and liaise with outside vendors as well as staff members within the College.  To work at irregular hours, weekends and holidays may be necessary.

Applicants should have a Master’s degree in librarianship or equivalent and at least 5 years professional experience in an academic library.  The ideal candidate should be motivated, mature, independent, user and performance-oriented, and a good team player. Demonstrated project management, analytical and problem-solving skills, knowledge of and experience in use of automated systems in libraries, as well as strong user services orientation are desired.  Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese will be required.

Candidates with less experience may be considered for the position of Assistant Librarian.
